Research and Development

Research and Development is an area of vital importance at sanofi-aventis, and in 2006 the Group invested 15.6% of its sales revenue in R&D (an increase of 9.5%). Bioethics, good practices in regards to conducting clinical trials, laboratory animal use and product safety are all key issues for the Group, which has established and distributed guidelines and universal charters on these topics to all employees worldwide.  

Product marketing and product quality

What each individual has the right to expect from a pharmaceutical company—patient protection—is in fact the result of careful organization and constant attention from our employees. Processes to ensure quality, safeguard supplies, combat counterfeit drugs and promote responsible marketing practices are all monitored on a regular basis.  

Access to healthcare

A majority of the world’s population has little or no access to the most basic medicines. Sanofi-aventis has decided to take proactive steps to make access to medicines and vaccines an important part of our strategy for all populations in need, whether in developing or developed countries.
